5 Tips to Follow Before Booking Your Wedding Venue

In NC we have a plethera of beautiful wedding venues spanning our whole state! I mean we have all the right ingredients for finding a venue to fit your vision: Mountains, Ocean, Historic Places dating back to before the United States Revolution, a booming craft beer industry, and world wide recognition for quality furniture and textiles!

However, before you fall too deeply in love, you’ll want to make sure to follow these tips!

Tip #1: Ask Questions

What does the contract say? Does it make sense to you? Are you confused by anything? READ your contract carefully and ASK questions because you are paying for a service. Don’t be afraid to be certain you know what you are paying for!

Tip #2 Light

What does the venue look like in the day, at sunset, and night time? Check it out with your photographer, have them scout it for you and send you some examples of different lighting, or see if your photographer may already be able to show you from previous events there.


Tip #3 Chairs

Are they included in the venue fee? What do they look like? Are there chairs not included, but nicer ones than the included ones on site available for rent? What if the chairs available don't fit the aesthetic of the event, are outside rentals allowed? Are there chairs available with a cushioning for the guests?


Tip #4 Weather Plan B

What is the rain, or other disruptive weather, plan? Who makes the call to move the wedding inside? When does that call have to be made? What costs are associated with the plan B?


Tip #5 Preferred Vendor List

Does the venue require you to use one of the vendors on their preferred vendor list? What if a vendor you already have a contract with is not on their list? Does the venue have examples of that vendors work, or testimonials from other brides or grooms?
